A Lasting Impact: The Story of the Cobbler
During my travels in Nepal, I’ve encountered countless stories of resilience, hard work, and simple joys. One such story unfolded during the Dashain festival, a time of celebration and giving, which beautifully illustrates the profound impact of small acts of kindness.

In a bustling street near my guesthouse, a cobbler tirelessly worked for hours every day, mending worn-out shoes with meticulous care. He was a fixture at the end of the street, always busy, always focused. His dedication and humble presence left a lasting impression on me.

During the Dashain festival, as part of our Give100Project initiative, I decided to bring a bit of joy to his day. I prepared a beautiful red envelope with $10, equivalent to 1000 Nepali rupees, and approached him. With a warm smile, I handed him the envelope and conveyed my namaste, the traditional Nepali greeting.
His reaction was heartwarming. The shoe repairman’s face lit up with a smile that seemed to illuminate the entire street. It was a smile of genuine surprise and gratitude, a moment of happiness in the midst of his daily toil. From that day on, he greeted me every morning with a lovely Namaste, a gesture that made my day as much as it made his.
This small act of giving $10 brought immense happiness to a tireless worker. It was a reminder that even the simplest gestures can have a profound impact, bringing light and joy into someone’s life. This story is just one of many that we proudly share on our YouTube channel, Give100Project, where we demonstrate how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference.
