Meet Shelley Adam – Founder of WanderFull
From Airplane Seats to Himalayan Streets
In 2008, when I first set foot in Nepal, I felt an immediate connection—this country, its people, and its stories had a unique way of changing my perspective. What started as a journey for adventure quickly turned into something much deeper. After returning in 2015 to assist with earthquake relief efforts, I realized my path had shifted. It wasn’t enough to simply visit; I wanted to contribute to the country that had so profoundly touched me.
With a background in the airline industry, I have always been passionate about connecting people and places. I worked as a customer service agent and trainer, honing my skills in creating world-class guest experiences. My time as a flight attendant gave me the added benefit of learning safety management skills and traveling to different destinations, which sparked my love for exploring cultures and meeting people. But it was in Nepal that I truly understood the power of human connection.
In 2018, I founded WanderFull to bridge the gap between travelers and Nepal's rich culture, while also making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need. WanderFull isn’t just about visiting a destination; it’s about fully experiencing the heart of Nepal, connecting with its people, and giving back in meaningful ways. Through WanderFull, I work with organizations dedicated to improving lives—whether that’s empowering women, providing opportunities for children, or offering care for street dogs.
Each experience we offer isn’t just about exploration; it’s about contributing to a sustainable, kind world. By supporting these initiatives, every trip helps fund projects that directly benefit local communities. You’re not just a traveler when you choose WanderFull—you’re a vital part of a movement that’s making a lasting difference.
When I’m not in Nepal, I’m usually flying around to visit my family, including my six grandchildren, who always keep me on my toes. My husband, an airline pilot, and I try to travel together when we can, though I’m convinced he thinks “airline pilot” means he gets to pick all the destinations.
At home, I’m never short on company with my three dogs and two cats, two of which are Nepali street rescues. They’ve pretty much taken over the house, and I’ve become their full-time treat dispenser and belly-rub expert. As for the cats? Well, they rule the roost, but I’ve learned to live with the fact that I’m just here to serve them.
Everything I do is with intention and to bring kindness and meaning to my life, whether I’m in Nepal or on an airplane bound for a new destination. I’m excited to invite you to join me on this journey, to engage with Nepal, and to contribute to a world filled with kindness and change.
